Jenni Ward
For our tea set project we had to pick a ceramic artist to base our work off of. I chose Jenni Ward. A majority of her pieces are sculptural but I found her forms very intersting. I really liked her rock candy series because of the shapes she made the rocks and the color she glazed the rocks. She photographs her pieces in nature and I think that that really enhances the overall appearance of her pieces.
About My Tea Set
I am inspired a lot by nature, so I wanted to make my tea set look like it would be found in nature. I used a greyish color to make it look like rock and a greenish color to make it look like moss. I encoutered a few problems with making this project such as the bottom of my tea pot cracking and the center of one of my cups collapsing on the wheel. Personally, I think these mishaps add to the overall look of the tea set and make them look like more natural forms.
